Throwing Taster • Weekends
A relaxed and intimate introductory workshop – for those who have always wanted to see what it is like to throw at the wheel.
To support a calm, attentive, and unintimidating atmosphere, we will never have more than four people in our throwing classes and you will always have your own, dedicated wheel and a quiet space to practice.
Each element is so important when you learn to throw, so we will work gently through each step including how to weigh and prepare your clay for throwing, how to centre your clay, use throwing tools, and work towards creating a simple cylindrical shape.
At the end of the session, choose your favourite piece to be glazed and fired for you in our transparent studio glaze. Your work will be ready to collect around a month later.
Alternatively, if you would to come back to glaze your own work in a choice of studio brush glazes, you can add-on a glazing workshop below, where you can explore not only block beautiful colours but create expressive finishes in brushwork and glaze splatters across the surface.
Workshop Notes
11.00 – 13.00
Each session is two hours – but we’ll allow for ten minutes at the end to clean down your workstation.
Suitable for complete beginners and all ages from 8 and up are most welcome.
Please bring an apron and consider wearing your nails short if possible.
Please find our booking policy here.
